David Cameron unveils new security partnership with Algeria

David Cameron has become the first British prime minister to visit Algeria since it became independent in 1962.

After a meeting with his Algerian counterpart, Mr Cameron has unveiled a new security partnership that could include shared intelligence and joint planning in the fight against Islamist militants in the region.

His visit comes in the wake of the hostage crisis in In Amenas that left nearly 40 hostages dead.

Mr Cameron said his aim was "very much about helping this neighbourhood to help itself".
