New flood defences: Environment Secretary on funding

The Environment Secretary Owen Paterson has said flood victims who won't benefit from new defences announced today should "keep applying".

Construction is to start on 93 flood defences in England this year to improve protection for more than 64,000 homes, the government has said.

Not all areas affected by recent flooding will see changes, however Mr Paterson insisted the announcement was an "enormous boost"
