Rain and floods: 'You worry all the time'

Rising river levels and regular flooding are hitting industry hard, according to one North Yorkshire businessman.

Paul Cooke, from Malton, saw his business flooded just two months after opening. He told the BBC's Danny Savage that he had had to cover the cost of repairs himself as commercial properties "struggled to get insurance anywhere where you are near the river."

Data released by the Met Office on Thursday confirmed that 2012 was the second wettest year on record in the UK. The total rainfall for the UK during 2012 was 1,330.7mm (52.4in), just 6.6mm short of the record set in 2000.
