Horsemeat supply chain 'allowed to get too complicated'

The supply chain has been allowed to get too complicated, the managing director of retail chain Morrisons Convenience has said.

Speaking to the BBC, Gordon Mowat said a simplification of the supply chain was needed so customers knew where their products were coming from.

The environment secretary Owen Paterson is set to meet food retailers and trade bodies to establish what is being done to restore consumer confidence.
