Snow causes travel disruption and school closures

Snow has been causing disruption in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, leading to travel disruption and school closures.

In Northern Ireland 50,000 homes and businesses lost power, and George Best Belfast City Airport's runway was closed.

In England one lane of the M62 westbound between J25 A644 (Brighouse) and J22 A672 (Rishworth Moor) was blocked due to snow.

The M1 was also blocked in both directions in Derbyshire, six miles east of Chesterfield.
