Archbishop of Canterbury calls for 'hope and realism' at Easter

The new Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, has delivered his first Easter sermon at Canterbury Cathedral, in which he said pinning hopes on individuals or institutions in society is a mistake.

Archbishop Welby called on churchgoers to recognise complexity and human fallibility, and he cautioned against the dangers of putting too much trust in a "hero leader".

He warned of being "unreasonably disappointed" with everyone "from politicians to NHS, education to environment."
