Could 'fixed-price divorce' work?

Legal aid for divorce disappears today in all cases except where domestic violence can be proved.

It is part of the Government's long planned cut to the legal aid bill aimed at saving £350m of the £2bn budget.

Family law is the largest area affected and with the absence of legal aid to draw on, some firms are now offering a "fixed price" service for divorces.

The Co-operative are one of the firms in the market who are now offering this service. Christina Blacklaws, director of policy at Co-operative Legal Services, and Mark Harper, a divorce lawyer, debate the idea that is part of the Government's long planned cut to the legal aid bill.
