Philpott and Mosley sentences explained

The couple from Derby who set fire to their house last year, killing their six children, have been given long jail sentences.

Mick Philpott has been given a life sentence for manslaughter and told he will have to serve a minimum of 15 years.

His wife, Mairead Philpott, and their friend Paul Mosley have been given 17 year jail terms and told they could be released on licence after serving half their sentences.

The BBC's legal correspondent Clive Coleman explains the factors behind the sentencing decision.
