Andrew Wilson and Owen Jones on Philpott benefits row
Chancellor George Osborne's remarks on whether the state should pay for the lifestyles of people like Mick Philpott have sparked a political row.
Father-of-17 Philpott was jailed for life after being convicted of killing six of his children in a house fire.
Mr Osborne said a debate was needed about whether the state should "subsidise lifestyles like that". But shadow chancellor Ed Balls condemned Mr Osborne's comments as "a cynical act of a desperate chancellor".
Journalists Andrew Wilson and Owen Jones discussed the issue on the BBC News Channel.
