Tiger victim 'had no reason' to enter enclosure, says park owner

A zoo worker, who died after she was attacked by a tiger, "had no reason" to enter the animal's enclosure, the park's owner has said.

Sarah McClay, 24, was killed at South Lakes Wild Animal Park, near Dalton-in-Furness in Cumbria.

Its founder and owner David Gill said the facility had "very strict protocols for working with big cats".

Speaking to Nathan Turvey on BBC 5 live he added: "She opened the door and went into the tiger enclosure and straight into the tigers and now we'll never know why."
