Cheese-maker warned over hill roll competition

The woman who has supplied the wheel of cheese for Gloucester's famous annual cheese-rolling event has been told by police she may be liable for legal action.

Participants in the annual race chase a wheel of Double Gloucester - made for the past 25 years by Diana Smart - down a steep hill.

Mrs Smart, 86, who makes the 7lb (3kg) cheese for the event was warned she could be held responsible if anybody was injured during the race.

Andrew Plant reports.
