Lord Oakeshott urges radical reform of House of Lords

The Liberal Democrat peer Lord Oakeshott has told the BBC that the coalition government must press ahead and radically reform of the House of Lords, in the wake of fresh allegations of parliamentary sleaze.

The Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, writing in the Daily Telegraph, said the coalition would introduce a register of lobbyists to tackle abuse of the parliamentary system.

Three peers and one MP have been secretly recorded appearing to offer to carry out parliamentary work for money. They all deny breaking any rules.
