Scope charity concerned over new disability payments

A charity has warned that almost a fifth of Disability Living Allowance (DLA) claimants could eventually lose their benefits.

The warning comes as a new system of disability payments has begun to take effect across England, Scotland and Wales.

Personal Independence Payments (PIPs) are replacing (DLA) as part of the government's welfare reforms.

The government says PIPs will target resources more effectively towards those who need it most.
