Dornier bomber salvage: On board barge with wreck

The wreckage of a German World War II bomber that lay 15m (50 feet) under water in the English Channel for more than 70 years will be towed to Ramsgate on Tuesday.

The Dornier 17 plane is thought to have been shot down off the coast of Kent in August 1940.

It now faces two years of restoration before going on display at the RAF Museum in north London.

The museum's head of collections, Ian Thirsk, spoke to Nick Higham about the effort involved in salvaging the plane and preventing further corrosion before its restoration.
