Fiona Bone's family thankful not to sit through Cregan evidence

The father of Fiona Bone has said he has "no regrets" over his daughter's decision to join the police force, after a man was jailed for life for her murder.

Dale Cregan admitted killing the 32-year-old police officer and her colleague Nicola Hughes in a gun attack in Greater Manchester - as well as killing father and son David and Mark Short.

Paul Bone said he was grateful Cregan's guilty plea had spared them sitting through the evidence of the killings on 18 September 2012.

He admitted his family were still struggling to come to term's with Fiona's death, adding: "Every Tuesday lunchtime is difficult, as that's when our lives changed forever."
