Work programme 'not doing enough' for sick and disabled

The costs of helping sick and disabled jobseekers find work cannot be met under the government's flagship Work Programme, according to its providers.

New figures show a third of people who have been on the scheme for at least a year have started a job.

But for the most challenging group, those claiming Employment and Support Allowance, only a tenth have found work.
