MoD UFO desk closed because it served 'no defence purpose'

Documents from the National Archives reveal the last cases to be dealt with by the Ministry of Defence's UFO department, before it was disbanded three years ago.

The UFO desk was closed because it served "no defence purpose" and was taking staff away from "more valuable defence-related activities", newly released files show.

The files cover apparent extra-terrestrial encounters in the two years before the desk was shut down including sightings at several UK landmarks such as Stonehenge.

Rajesh Mirchandani has been in search of the truth.
