Twitter 'in active dialogue' over rape threat abuse cases

Twitter is "in active dialogue" with law enforcement officials and the recipients of abusive tweets threatening rape, a company executive has said.

Feminist campaigner Caroline Criado-Perez and Labour MP Stella Creasy are among a number of women who have reported receiving such threats via the social networking site.

Del Harvey, Head of Trust and Safety for Twitter, told BBC Newsnight's Gavin Esler that the company took the problem of abuse seriously but stressed the importance of the role of users in reporting unacceptable behaviour.
