Rail passengers in England face a 4.1% rail fare rise

Rail passengers in England face yet another hike in their rail fares.

Individual prices will vary but overall tickets will go up by an average of just over four per cent from next January.

The rise is set by the government and is based on the latest inflation figure as measured by the Retail Prices Index plus one per cent.

Campaigners say passengers face real hardship as prices outstrip their wages.

Richard Westcott reports.
