Douglas Alexander: 'Egypt generals cannot act with impunity'

The death toll has been rising in Egypt, as protesters loyal to ousted President Mohammed Morsi clashed with security forces.

The UK's shadow foreign secretary has called for a suspension of US aid to Egypt, adding that foreign ministers will have a chance to take a similar step next week.

Douglas Alexander said there was a "very heavy burden of responsibility to act at this very dark moment in Egypt's history."
