Bailiffs visit: 'Worst thing ever'

A single mother said her life was turned upside down when she had a visit from bailiffs after she failed to keep up her council tax payments.

Wendy Ritchie, from Birmingham, said she always intended to pay the bill and the council should have been prepared to negotiate with her before sending bailiffs to repossess her belongings.

She ended up coming to an arrangement to pay what she owed in instalments after seeking advice from National Debtline.
