Labour: Critics of HS2 'have no alternative'
Labour has said a failure to build a high speed rail link between London and Birmingham would result in the "decline of our railways into the future".
The Public Accounts Committee said the Department for Transport was failing to present a "convincing strategic case" for the HS2 project.
But shadow transport secretary, Maria Eagle, condemned critics of the plans for failing to come up with a viable "alternative" to tackle growing capacity issues.
