Police chiefs call for 'drunk tanks'

Police chiefs are calling for 'drunk tanks' to be considered as a method of tackling alcohol-fuelled disorder.

The Association of Chief Police Officers wants drunk people who need medical attention to be put in privately run cells to sober up and be made to pay for their care the next morning.

However, The Police Federation says the plan is "neither a viable nor long-term" fix.
