'Mental' Halloween costumes 'beyond acceptability' - Mind

Halloween costumes labelled as being based on mental health issues went "beyond the line of acceptability", the head of the charity Mind has said.

Supermarket chains Asda and Tesco, which had advertised for sale on their websites, outfits labelled as "mental patient fancy dress costume" and "psycho ward" respectively, have withdrawn them and apologised. Asda has also agreed to donate £25,000 to Mind.

The charity's chief executive Paul Farmer told the BBC he had never seen anything so "crude and extraordinary".
