Eating disorder patients 'waiting too long' for treatment

Some people with eating disorders are having to wait for more than a year to get specialist treatment, according to the charity Beat.

Patients with a physical illness must receive treatment within 18 weeks of being referred by their GP but there is currently no time limit for those who are mentally ill.

The government says it wants to introduce time limits next year.
