Government asks European Commission for 5p fuel discount in rural areas

The government has applied to the European Commission to extend a fuel discount scheme which offers a 5p per litre reduction in petrol duty in rural areas.

It already applies in the Scottish islands and the Isles of Scilly and could be extended to a further 10 communities across mainland Scotland and England.
