Madeleine McCann case: Portuguese police reopen inquiry

An inquiry into the disappearance of British girl Madeleine McCann has been reopened by Portuguese police, the public prosecutor's office has said.

The three-year-old vanished from Praia da Luz in the Algarve in May 2007.

A statement from the office of Portugal's attorney-general said "new elements of evidence" justified the "continuation of the investigation".

Tom Burridge reports.
