Immigrants 'contribute to public finances,' says UCL study

Immigrants to the UK since 2000 have made a substantial contribution to public finances, a University College London report says.

Speaking on BBC Breakfast, co-author Prof Dustmann said the study showed immigrants had paid more in taxes than they had taken out in benefits and transfers.

Recent immigrants were also less likely to claim benefits and live in social housing than people born in Britain, they found.
