Rochdale abuse: 'I'll never get over daughter's grooming'

The father of a girl who was the victim of the grooming gang in Rochdale has said discovering the news was "like being hit with a sledgehammer".

Girl A, who can't be identified for legal reasons, was just 14 when she was lured into their circle with free gifts, plied with alcohol and systematically raped.

Nine men, eight of Pakistani origin and one from Afghanistan, were found guilty last year of abusing five girls in the town but police believe there may have been up to 47 victims.

Girl A's father also told the BBC's Becky Milligan how he felt "helpless" and "flabbergasted" by the whole affair and criticised the role of social services.
