Food crime: Government 'already taking steps'

The government has given a cautious welcome to recommendations for a specialist food crime unit following the horse meat scandal.

A report commissioned following the revelations says there is also a need for more unannounced inspections of premises.

Environment Secretary Owen Patterson said the government had already implemented some of the recommendations but "how to set up a crime unit... those are details that we need to work on."
