Newport car park blown up in planned demolition

A car park in Newport, Wales has been demolished in a series of explosions.

An exclusion zone was set up around the city centre's Capitol car park before the planned blasts on Sunday morning.

The demolition of buildings in John Frost Square marks the first phase of the Friars Walk development.

One of the car park's walls had been the site of the city's Chartist mural which was controversially demolished in October sparking angry protests.
