Hodge: Royal Household 'must cut back expenditure'
Buckingham Palace should be opened to more paying visitors when the Queen is not in residence to fund improvements to the royal estate, MPs have said.
Margaret Hodge, chairwoman of the Public Accounts Committee, told BBC Radio 4's Today programme that both the Treasury and Royal Estate "should do more" to improve expenditure.
She also argued that the Royal Household should cut back on spending, noting that its staff levels remain the same as they were five years ago.
First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Tuesday 28 January 2014.
