Child maintenance reform plans criticised by charity

Gingerbread, a charity that represents single parents, is calling on politicians to block changes to the child maintenance system.

The Department for Work and Pensions wants separated parents to make their own private arrangements to settle disputes.

The charity fears that the changes will take money away from children who rely on it. But the Government says the new rules will encourage separated parents to work together.
