Somerset floods: 'We've been failed at every level' says MP

Ian Liddell-Grainger, the Conservative MP for Bridgwater, has reiterated his criticism of the handling of the flooding crisis in Somerset, saying the government has let people down.

He criticised agencies for not doing enough to prevent flooding despite pledges made a year ago to address the problem.

Mr Liddell-Grainger said the head of the Environment Agency, Lord Smith, should resign if "he had any shred of decency".

Southern parts of the UK are again being hit by rain and strong winds with forecasters warning of gales to come.
