Visits to UK attractions rise by 6% in 2013

Visits to Britain's top attractions rose by 6% in 2013, figures from the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions (ALVA) have shown.

Whilst outdoor attractions fared better, the British Museum still topped the list with nearly 7 million visitors.

Michael Dixon, director of the Natural History museum, said visitors to the museum had trebled since free admission was reintroduced.

Mr Dixon told BBC Radio 5 live's Wake Up to Money: "It does reflect the enduring attraction of museums... but I think in general it is a reinforcement of the free admission policy."
