Network Rail 'insensitive' over level crossing deaths

Network Rail staff did not act with "sensitivity" following fatal level crossing accidents, the company's new chief executive Mark Carne has said.

Speaking to the Today programme, he added that he plans to invest £100m over the next five years in "removing level crossings" and "improving the safety" of those that remain.

Reg Thompson, the father of a girl killed in an accident nine years ago, explained that staff still remain within Network Rail "who do not deserve our trust".

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Friday 7 March.
