Powys residents launch appeal to save landmark tree

Llanfyllin residents have launched an appeal to save a Powys landmark known as "The Lonely Tree."

The Scots pine, thought to be around 150 years old, was felled by the recent high winds.

Amateur historian Pauline Page-Jones said they had received donations from as far away as Singapore to help the restoration efforts.

She told BBC Radio 5 live's Drive: "It's amazing, it's captured the imagination of people worldwide through social networking."
