PC Keith Blakelock case defended by Met Police

A jury at the Old Bailey has cleared a man of killing police officer Keith Blakelock during the Broadwater Farm riots in north London in 1985.

Nicholas Jacobs, 45, had been accused of attacking the officer with a large knife.

The Assistant Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, Mark Rowley, defended the decision to prosecute Mr Jacobs, and said no-one was "incentivised financially" to give evidence in the trial.
