Hillsborough inquest: Tribute to Philip Hammond

Hilda Hammond's son, 14-year old-Philip, was one of the 96 people who died at Hillsborough Stadium during the FA Cup semi-final in April 1989.

Background statements are being read out in court at the start of the new inquest into the disaster.

A schoolboy from Liverpool, Philip Hammond travelled by coach to the game with a friend, Ian Southgate, who survived.

His mother, Hilda, paid tribute to a ''lovely'' son, whose ''life, hopes and dreams were needlessly taken from him''.
