Oakeshott resignation 'inevitable', says former leader
The former leader of the Liberal Democrats Sir Menzies Campbell has said the resignation of Lord Oakeshott was "inevitable".
The Lib Dem peer resigned from the party after he commissioned an opinion poll suggesting it would do better with a new leader.
Speaking on Radio 4's World at One, Sir Menzies said Lord Oakeshott considered himself "a kingmaker" and had "gone beyond his competence".
