World leaders mark D-Day in France

Hundreds of veterans have been joined by world leaders and members of the British Royal Family at commemorations to remember the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

The Queen laid a wreath to honour the fallen and President Obama paid tribute to a generation who had, as he put it, "defied every danger".

It is thought at least 4,000 troops lost their lives fighting on the Normandy coast.

Nicholas Witchell reports.
