HS3 rail link: What are the obstacles?

A so-called HS3 high-speed rail link between Manchester and Leeds could help to create a "northern global powerhouse", George Osborne has said.

The chancellor said the plan could cost up to £7bn and would cut travel times between the two cites from 50 minutes to half an hour.

But the practicalities of building such a vast project may pose some issues, as the BBC's Transport Correspondent Richard Westcott reports from Stalybridge station.
