Family-abuse children 'unprotected', commissioner warns

Not enough is being done to protect children from sexual abuse within families and there are ''alarming gaps" in knowledge about the issue, England's deputy children's commissioner Sue Berelowitz has said.

The Office of the Children's Commissioner has launched a two-year inquiry into how best to tackle the problem, following the publication of a report based on an analysis of 57,226 research studies into child sexual abuse.
