'The law is not protecting children' says NSPCC
Growing concerns over how state institutions dealt with allegations of child sex abuse have seen the government announce two inquiries this week.
The children's charity, the NSPCC, now wants a change in the law in how allegations of abuse are dealt with.
The organisation has previously opposed all forms of so-called mandatory reporting.
But Head of Policy at the NSPCC, Alan Wardle, said people who cover up such activities should face criminal prosecution.
