New sculpture remembers Land Girls war effort

The invaluable work done by tens of thousands of women during the First and Second World Wars is being commemorated in a work of art.

The Women's Land Army, or land girls, as they became known, helped feed soldiers, and the nation. By 1944 there were some 80,000 of them.

Now work is under way on a sculpture which will be unveiled later this year.
