David Cameron launches 'family test' package

David Cameron is introducing a new domestic policy - aimed at putting families at the centre of the government's thinking.

The prime minister said government policies would be assessed by what kind of impact they would have on families.

"We think really carefully to ensure that our benefits system, our tax system - policies for education - for childcare - all of these things are helping families to do the amazing work they do on our behalf," he said.
