Rotherham Council 'deeply sorry' for child abuse

Rotherham Borough Council is "deeply sorry" for failing the victims of child abuse and exploitation, its chief executive has said.

Martin Kimber praised the courage of the victims for taking part in an investigation, and helping to ensure that such a "deplorable situation" would not happen again.

At least 1,400 children were subjected to "appalling" sexual exploitation in Rotherham between 1997 and 2013, the report has found.
