Rotherham child abuse scandal 'beggars belief,' says NSPCC

The head of NSPCC's helpline says it "beggars belief" that information received by Rotherham council was not acted upon "robustly enough".

A report commissioned by Rotherham Borough Council found that least 1,400 children were subjected to appalling sexual exploitation in Rotherham between 1997 and 2013.

The NSPCC's John Cameron said it was vital that victims and members of the public who had information about potential instances of abuse were able to speak out.
