Met police appeal to identify James Foley killer

The UK's head of counter-terrorism has appealed directly to Muslim communities for information about James Foley's killer in Syria - and for help in stopping others from travelling to join jihadist fighters.

They want friends, family and neighbours to watch out for people who are about to travel to the Middle East, or who are showing signs of becoming radicalised.

Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley from the Metropolitan Police refused to comment on whether security services had identified the killer, other than to say that they had made "significant" progress.

He appealed for any information held by people within Muslim communities which could help.
