World War One cavalry role marked in War Horse Ride

Ceremonies are being held in the village of Nery in northern France, 100 years to the day since a British cavalry unit held the line against advancing German forces that outnumbered them four to one.

Members of the First Cavalry Brigade were taken by surprise as they camped in and around the village, but they fought back, and three of their number were awarded the Victoria Cross.

As Robert Hall reports, the commemorations follow a remarkable journey which has retraced the route leading to the battle.
